Stephen joined the company in March 2017. He has over 10 years’ working experience in ICT in Banking and Insurance, having served in Turnkey Africa Kenya Limited and National Bank of Kenya(NBK) where he was a Senior Applications Developer before joining Pioneer Insurance.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Technology(Software Engineering) from Maseno University.
He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor(CISA) and a member of ISACA.
Milcah Kinyua is the founder Managing Director of Pioneer General Insurance Limited since its inception in 2017. An industry veteran, Milcah’s nearly 26 years career in the industry has earned her a great wealth of experience. She led teams in the underwriting and claims departments of ICEA Lion and CIC Insurance Company, and later served as Managing Director of CIC Insurance Uganda in charge of both General and Life Divisions. She has also previously held the position of General Manager Operations at UAP Old mutual.
Milcah is a diligent and results-oriented leader with a proven track record in developing and overseeing the implementation of Company’s business strategy, and a great passion for customer service.
Her academic and leadership qualifications match her experience, having successfully qualified for the Advanced Management Leadership Program (Strathmore Insurance) and Corporate Governance (Center for Corporate Governance in Kenya). She holds a Master of Business Administration Degree (KU) in Entrepreneurship with a Research paper on A SURVEY TO ESTABLISH ACCESSIBILITY OF INSURANCE SERVICES TO SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN NAIROBI CBD. Her Graduate degree is a Bachelor of Education from Kenyatta University. She is also an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute London (ACII)
Dr. Wamuyu Mahinda MBA, DBA is the Managing Partner and Convener, Collaborative Value Partners – Africa (CVP-Africa) An organization that creates multi-stakeholder alliances in a structured and sustainable way to boost their combined power to ensure Collaborative value. CVP-Africa stimulates the systems-change efforts of different stakeholders working on the same problem and focused on attaining measurable, population-level change. CVP-Africa is supporting Africa’s home-grown solutions to establish that they are the drivers of sustainable economic growth and development in Africa.
Dr. Mahinda is the Co-Chair – Catalyst 2030 Africa Chapter, a global movement of social entrepreneurs and social innovators from all sectors who share the common goal of creating innovative, people-centric approaches to attain the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
Wamuyu holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nairobi and a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from United States International University.

Brigid Cherono is a seasoned legal and risk management expert specializing in insurance law, corporate governance, and enterprise risk management. With over 20 years of experience spanning the insurance, legal, and public sectors, she brings profound expertise in regulatory compliance, strategic risk advisory, and corporate legal affairs.
In her current role as Senior Legal Officer (Insurance) at Kenya Pipeline Company Limited (KPC), Brigid leads legal operations related to insurance, providing strategic insights on risk management and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Before this, she served KPC as a Risk Officer and Legal Officer, making substantial contributions to enterprise risk management and legal compliance initiatives.
Brigid has also held prominent legal positions in the insurance industry, such as Executive Officer (Legal Affairs) at Heritage Insurance Company Limited and Legal Officer at Standard Assurance. Her extensive experience includes public service as an Immigration Officer in the Ministry of Immigration and Registration of Persons and private legal practice as an Advocate at R.K. Langat & Company Advocates.
Academically, Brigid holds an MSc in Insurance and Risk Management from Cass Business School, City University London (UK), and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Nairobi. Her professional certifications include Certified Public Secretary (CPS), Certified Enterprise Risk Management Professional (CERMP), and she is accredited as a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public. She also boasts advanced insurance qualifications, such as the Advanced Diploma (ACII) and Diploma (CII) from the UK’s Chartered Insurance Institute.
Brigid has demonstrated a strong commitment to industry leadership. She is a former Board Member of the Association of Kenyan Insurers (AKI) and has served on the Life Insurance Council (LIC). Additionally, she chaired the Public Relations & External Liaison Committee at AKI and contributed to policy development as a member of the Individual Life Committee (1998–2005). She is currently a Director at Common Ground Ventures Ltd.
Her expertise in insurance law, corporate governance, and strategic risk management continues to shape the legal and risk framework within Kenya’s financial and energy sectors.
